WHEN SCHOOL FEES BECOME A CHILD’S BURDEN
A fee dispute may be financial. But what happens when a child pays the price with their future?
Imagine passing a board examination, dreaming of the next chapter of life, and then finding your path blocked because of a dispute over school fees.
A complaint submitted to the authorities in Uttarakhand alleges that academic documents of two students were withheld amid fee disputes, with serious consequences for their educational progress.
Behind every such complaint lies a question we cannot afford to ignore: What happens to a child’s confidence, mental well-being and future when education becomes entangled in financial disputes?
Schools have a right to pursue legitimate dues through lawful means. Parents have a right to fair grievance redressal. But children must not become collateral damage in a dispute between adults.
Where are the timely interventions? Have the complaints been properly examined? Who will ensure that students’ educational interests are protected and that responsibility is fixed wherever violations are established?
We appeal to the education authorities to investigate such grievances fairly, respond transparently and ensure that no child’s future is left hanging because of a fee dispute.
Education is a child’s right to progress—not a reason to lose hope.
The question is no longer just about fees. It is about accountability, dignity and the future of our children.
Will the authorities act before more academic opportunities are lost?
